ground strokes
Oh, if you didn’t already know, Playstation 3 will be released March 23rd. You know…it’s my birthday around that time…
Tennis for the second day in a row, and yes, I still sweat like a Nevada preacher. But it was great fun, even though my tennis skills have gone to shit. I’ll probably be nice and sore for all of tomorrow as well…
In the Koss review I mentioned the JVC Marshmallows as a cheap in-ear alternative. The RRP is $29, which compared to other particular models is quite affordable. Of course, you get what you pay for and they are by no means perfect - it’s another bang for buck thing. I was reading about them on the Head-fi forums, and apparently the stock eartips are similar to cheap earplugs that you would find in a workshop. People claimed that it was like sticking a wine cork in their ear.
But then as I read on, I came across this post that detailed how to replace the stock eartips with Shure E2 foam tips ($25) to achieve a better fit and hence a cleaner sound. If you really wanted you could replace it with the silicone sleeves, I guess.
So $29 + $25 = $54. Compared to my preferred alternatives, it doesn’t seem all that expensive.
But then again, why the hell would I need a pair of canalphones for…? Probably when I get myself a PMP or when I’m on plane flights. Maybe someone could try it out and let me know how it goes.
