Links on Thursday
Yes, it’s a slow day at work.
- Google shares are now over US$600 from US$85. Would it have made sense to take out a loan to buy these shares? Probably. I was young and naive back then.
- More SMH goodness with an update on Russia’s newest prolific serial killer. Alexander Pichushkin wanted to commit 64 murders, one for each square on a chessboard. His predecessor, Andrei Chikatilo (the "Rostov Ripper") was convicted for the murder of 53 people. Twisted stuff.
- Someone has claimed that Halo 3 and Bioshock are not true "next-gen" games. He adds that his game will be a real next-gen title. Can someone define "next-gen" for me in the first place?
- The Xbox 360 will soon have a new motherboard revision called Jasper. It will boast "a 65-nanometer graphics chip from ATI Technologies, as well as smaller memory chips," two moves aimed at reducing cost, but which will also help prevent the molten temperatures exhibited by most current 360s.
- IGN have done an Orange Box review. Based on the individual scores, it looks like Episode 2 may be pulling its weight.
