AMD issued a media release the other day on their new series of graphics cards to address the gaping midrange hole and to counter the 8800 GT threat.

After skimming through a few benchmarks, it looks like the new series is more efficient, is slightly over par when matched against its Nvidia counterpart, and slightly cheaper. The 3850 looks like its got the jump on the 8600, and the 3870 looks like it’s slightly faster than the 2900XT in some games. And thank God they managed to get rid of the fucking X’s.

Looks to be a fairly respectable (and affordable) product.
